MTA Claims Emission Reduction with Congestion Pricing, but Continues to Run Buses all Night in Depots Throughout the 5 Boroughs.

This must be the most absurd case of contradictory statements and behaviors the MTA-New York City Transit Authority has ever put out. The MTA claims that Congestion Pricing will reduce greenhouse gases and improve air quality and at the same time in ever Borough in New York, there are buses at NYC Transit and MTA Bus depots running all night long or in intervals during cold weather. This is not new and the Authority claims it has an exemption from DEC to do so but regardless (see attached bulletin). The MTA says one thing and does something else. And to add insult to injury, the Bulletin attached mentions Non-Revenue vehicles which is our Road Dispatchers and CRS Maintenance Supervisors, they get threatened with discipline for idling a Patrol Car on cold days when trying to keep warm.

As I said at the MTA Board meeting on January 29th, there is no accountability. They do whatever the hell they want. They piss away millions of our tax dollars on equipment that they never use, they start a program and it fails then they spend millions of dollars to try and fix it.

They’ve been a disaster and getting away with this for years without much of a peep from anyone but that changed on January 1, 2025. We will be fighting them on everything and bringing attention publicly, their misdeeds, waste and mistreatment of our members and the riding public.
