Update-Bus Lane Bill S6815/A8292 Passes the NYS Senate and Swiftly Moves Through the Assembly!

Yesterday OUR Bus Lane Bill was voted on and passed the Senate. At the same time this Bill numbered in the Assembly as Bill A8292 is on the calendar in the Assembly and should be voted on next week. Once that happens it will be up to Governor Hochul to call for and sign this Bill. Make no mistake about it, Local 106 spearheaded this Bill and the Death Gamble Bill. Without the unstoppable efforts of the team here at Local 106 working non-stop on both of these Bills nothing would be happening.

In the end, it will be up to Governor Hochul to sign the Bus Lane Bill and the Death Gamble Bill. Hochul vetoed the Death Gamble bill at the end of 2024 which continued to put all Transit Workers in jeopardy, of their family losing a lifelong pension they earned if they die before getting a chance to retire.

Both of these Bill are easy and common sense therefore they should both be signed into law fixing two injustices that affect the hard working, blue collar, middle class Transit Workers.

If these Bill are not signed by Governor Hochul come election time, we will not forgive and we will not forget!
