Coming Soon—Your New MTA One Pass

As noted earlier this year, all MTA employees will soon be transitioning to our new, aptly named MTA One Pass. The transition will happen in phases over the next few months, beginning with employees at MTA Bus in November and continuing into 2026.

The new One Pass will simplify life by combining your employee credentials on a single card. It will be used for timeclocks, entry to MTA workplaces, secured printing, and as your employee transportation pass.

For transportation on MTA subways and buses, the One Pass will replace your MetroCard with OMNY tap-and-ride technology. For employees commuting by rail, it will replace your current LIRR and Metro-North commutation pass.

Employees at MTA Bus, NYC Transit, MTAHQ, and MTA C&D will continue to use your current pass for timeclocks only, while using the new One Pass for everything else.

LIRR, Metro-North, and Bridges and Tunnels employees will receive One Pass in 2026.

When Will This Happen?

Distribution of the One Pass will begin at MTA Bus in the next few weeks, followed by NYC Transit, MTAHQ, and MTA C&D. Employees at LIRR, Metro-North, and Bridges and Tunnels will receive the new One Pass beginning in 2026.

MTA employees will receive communications or will be contacted by your agency Pass Coordinator with details on One Pass distribution dates, times, and locations.

Please note. You will need a current photo to be displayed on your One Pass. If you have not updated your ID photo in several years, or if you wish to update it, please stop by an MTA Pass Office or call for an appointment.
