In a Historic First, All 21 TSO/TWU Local 106 Officers Re-Elected Unopposed

For the first time in our 72-year history of the Transit Supervisors Organization, now proudly known as TWU Local 106, the entire leadership team of 21 officers has been re-elected without opposition.
At the February 12th nominations meeting, not a single challenge was brought forward against our current Executive Board. The result was a powerful and unmistakable statement from the membership: confidence in the direction of the union, trust in its leadership, and unity in a time when solidarity matters most.
The Local 106 team, led by President Philip Valenti, will officially begin their second term on April 1, 2026. Alongside him, the full slate of officers will continue the work they have undertaken over the past term — strengthening representation, defending members’ rights, and ensuring supervisors have a strong and respected voice within New York City Transit.
This historic moment reflects more than just an election outcome. It represents stability, consistency, and a membership that recognizes the importance of experienced leadership during challenging times. From contract enforcement to workplace safety and pension protection, the officers of Local 106 have remained focused on protecting the interests of every member across all divisions.
President Valenti, stated “Being re-elected unopposed is not simply procedural — it is an endorsement. It signals that the membership stands united behind the current leadership and the progress that has been made”.
As Local 106 moves forward into this new term, the mission remains clear: protect the title, defend the contract, support every member, and continue building a stronger union for the future.
Seventy-two years strong — and united like never before.
