Local 106 Grassroots Efforts on Bus Lane Bill (S6815) Sprouts, with NY State Senator/Sponsor Leroy Comrie 14th District
The TSO/TWU Local 106 is fighting in every way possible against the ridiculous Bus Lane violations our members have been receiving while doing their job working for the MTA/NYC Transit Authority in Transit vehicles. And one way we are fighting for our members is working to get Legislation passed in Albany that will give our members the right to operate in Bus Lanes and Bus Ways while performing the duties as a supervisor.
We are very happy and appreciative to announce that NYS Senator Leroy Comrie will be sponsoring Bill S6815 in the Senate and we will soon have a sponsor on the Assembly side.
When the DOT passed this vehicle traffic law the MTA/NYC Transit Authority did nothing to protect its supervisors from getting slammed with escalating violations in the course of regular business from just doing their job.
Local 106 is working on getting this Legislation passed and we’re also pursuing this matter legally with counsel hired just for the particular fight.
No matter what, we’re prepared to exhaust all options to get this injustice rectified.
