Local 106 hits an historic membership high, breaking the 1,400 mark!

For the first time in our 71 year union history, as the Transit Supervisors Organization (TSO) / TWU Local 106, we hit an all time high of 1,402 active members in our union! The membership has grown exponentially in the last 20 years with the addition of MTA Bus and the MSII unit into our Local. And as one force we stand together fighting to maintain what we already achieved through bargaining and to improve on those pay and working condition achievements to make the lives of our members and their families lives better.

Although this is a milestone and great moment in our long history, we must also recognize that we are under current threat of being eliminated by managers that don’t know what they are doing and even more so by Artificial Intelligence (AI) that threatens all jobs and titles not just ones we represent at Local 106.

Today we celebrate our history and where we are, but we keep an eye on what is coming and we look for every way possible to protect our members and their right to keep earning a decent living. PV
