Bus Lane Bill S6815/A8292 has now passed the Senate and Assembly! Waiting on the Governor.
Yesterday OUR Bus Lane Bill was voted on and passed the Senate. And today, the Assembly voted, and they to approved this Bill to be passed along to the Governor to be signed into law.
We now wait to see if Governor Hochul will call for this Bill and sign it which is 100% the right thing to do.
No Transit Supervisor or any other Transit worker for that matter should ever be told they must pay a fine because they received a ticket, for being in a bus lane or bus stop, when the only reason they were at that location, was because they were responding to a radio call of a bus operator in need of assistance, or just doing their duties in accordance with their job responsibilities.
Passing this legislation would fix this crazy injustice and make right what the Transit Authority and the DOT has gotten wrong since day one.
We will continue to work on all of our Bills throughout the summer and to the end of the year, to ensure that we do all that we can to get this legislation signed into law.
