New York City Transit Union Alliance Faces off against Management at Quill Depot over safety

On January 8, 2026 Local 106 President Phil Valenti joined the leaders of TWU Local 100, ATU 726, ATU 1056, the SSSA and the UTLO at Michael J Quill Bus Depot, to demand a copy of the structural integrity report for MJQ Depot. With cracks in the roof and falling and deteriorating concrete threatening the safety of workers and members of our Unions, the newly formed Union Alliance came together demanding either a copy of that report or we take action to ensure the Depot is safe. After hours of arguing and management claiming they could not release the report due to security concerns, it was agreed that one copy would be released to Local 100 by the close of business that day. The report was delivered to Local 100.

On January 9th, Local 100 sent a summary to the Union Alliance of some of the issues that were in the report and President Valenti has made an official request for a copy of the structural integrity report. Local 106 will continue to monitor the situation and take the necessary actions to ensure the safety of our members.
