Work Safe During The Upcoming Snow & Ice Storm

As employees of New York City Transit, we take great pride in the work we do to keep buses and subways running under every condition imaginable. With the first major snow and ice storm moving into our area this weekend, many of us will be reporting to work as usual to keep the system moving.

That said, your safety comes first. Please do not put yourself in harm’s way by standing out in the cold for extended periods of time. Transit management has committed to providing hand and toe warmers to supervisors who are assigned to work outside. If this is not happening in your area, please notify your Division Chairman so we can address it immediately.

If you are working in the field during the storm and have the opportunity to safely take a few photos of yourself on the job or what you’re seeing out there, please email them to pvalenti@twu106.org. We’d like to share some of your experiences on our website to highlight the work our members do in tough conditions.

Work safe, don’t take unnecessary chances, and look out for your fellow co-workers. If you run into issues that you or your shop steward cannot resolve, contact your Division Chairman right away.
