28 month Contract Negotiations Resume
After receiving an influx of over $6.5 billion in Federal funds as part of the American Rescue Plan that was signed into law on March 11th by President Joe Biden, MTA Chairman Pat Foye announced “Now that Congress — under the leadership of Senate Majority Schumer, Speaker Pelosi and the bipartisan New York delegation — has approved an additional $6.5 billion in federal aid to the MTA, we are able to implement all previously negotiated general wage increases as scheduled and move ahead with contract negotiations,”
We are scheduled to meet with Labor Relations this week to resume negotiations on all of our outstanding 28 month contracts. We believe we should be able to reach agreements on all the contracts within a matter of weeks.
We would like to thank Senator Chuck Schumer and our International President, John Samuelsen for their unwavering commitment to secure funding for the MTA.
