Passing of Former OA Chairman Thomas (Tommy) Burke
We are extremely sad to inform you that former OA Transportation Chairman Tommy Burke passed away.
Wake: Thursday Feb 1, 2024 Hours 2PM-4PM and 7PM-9PM at the Dalton Funeral Home 125 Hillside Ave New Hyde Park, New York, Phone (516) 354-0634.
Funeral Services: Friday February 2, 2024 10:45AM at Saint Gregory’s Church, 242-20 88 Ave Bellerose, New York 11426.
Burial: Immediately following church services, at Saint Charles Cemetery, Wellwood Ave Farmingdale.
For those of you who knew Tommy, know that Tommy was incredibly smart with an amazing memory for details. Tommy worked as Dispatcher in Manhattan and the Bronx for many years and became the Vice Chairman of Local 106 in April of 2003, a few years later Tommy became the OA Transportation Chairman. When Tommy retired in 2019 he was dealing with some heath problems but he pulled through and over time his heath improved. Although Tommy had some health issues his death today has come at a complete surprise to those closest to him.
Tommy was tough, smart and a gentleman and if you knew him you are better off for it. We will miss Tommy and we ask that you say a prayer for Tommy and his family.
