The MTA Needs DOGE to Investigate Waste and Abuse

We filed a Freedom of Information (FOIL) request today with the MTA to find out if the Transit Authority is actually enforcing the penalties to Construction Companies that have a contract to perform work in the Department of Subways.
These contracts all have Liquidated Damages clauses in them. This clause makes the contractor pay the MTA a set amount of money or a percentage of the overall cost of the contract if the construction project goes past the point of completion. And if the Authority causes the delay the MTA needs to pay the Contractor a fee for each day of the delay, this is called Impact costs.
We have been told by multiple sources that the MTA does not request Liquidated Damages from Contractors when the project does not finish on time, in fact, the MTA takes the blame for Construction delays and pays the Contractor the Impact Costs.
If this turns out to be true, then there needs to be an outside agency to go through the MTA like DOGE to audit and weed out all the waste and abuse cause by mismanagement. We will let you know what we find.
